Questions

The questions people type into Google about Google Ads, answered in the first two sentences

Each page answers one question straight away, then explains the mechanism and the one thing to check in your own account. Shorter than the guides, written for someone deciding whether to start, stop, or hand an account over.

  1. 01

What does a PPC manager actually do?

A PPC manager decides which searches your ads show for, what you pay for each click, where the click lands and whether it became a customer, and adjusts all four every week from the account's own data.

  2. 02

How much does PPC management cost in the UK?

In the UK, PPC management is priced three ways: a percentage of ad spend, usually between ten and twenty per cent; a flat monthly fee, typically a few hundred pounds for a small account and stepping up as the spend and the campaign types grow; or an hourly or project rate for one-off work such as an audit or an account build.

  3. 03

Is Google Ads worth it for a small business?

Google Ads is worth it for a small business when the arithmetic works: the cost of a click in your sector, times the clicks it takes to get an enquiry, has to come in below what an enquiry is worth to you, with the management cost included.

  4. 04

What is a good cost per click in the UK?

A good cost per click is one that leaves your cost per enquiry below what an enquiry is worth to you, so there is no universal figure; across all industries WordStream's 2025 benchmark report put the average Search CPC at a little over five dollars, with legal, home services and finance well above that and retail, travel and hobbies below.

  5. 05

Should I run Google Ads myself?

You can run Google Ads yourself if you will read the Search Terms report every week, keep auto-apply recommendations switched off, and check each month that conversion tracking counts real enquiries; most owners who run their own account do none of those three after the first month, and that is where the money goes.

  6. 06

How long before Google Ads starts working?

Google Ads shows clicks the day the campaign goes live and enquiries within the first week if the tracking and the landing page work; a stable cost per lead takes four to eight weeks, because Smart Bidding needs around thirty conversions in a thirty-day window to learn from.

The longer reads, with tables and sources, are in the guides. New questions are added from what people ask on the quote form.
